All volunteers are required under Garland Independent School District (GISD) policy to complete the GISD volunteer application online. All volunteers must do this at the beginning of the school year, and has to be done every year. This is a requirement by GISD. You cannot volunteer to help the Rowlett Band Program until this process has been completed. Instructions on how to volunteer are shown below.

Volunteer application process

For the safety of all students, the GISD requires all potential volunteers who will work at any campus receive a background check by the Department of Public Safety (DPS). This check will be completed using the Raptor Volunteer Management System.

How to apply to volunteer

  • Provide an official government photo ID to the front office of any campus. Information from your ID will be entered into the Raptor Visitor Management System. (See below for accepted forms of identification.)

  • The office staff will provide instructions to complete an online application, which can be done at home or in the main office of any campus. Note that online applications with incomplete records or those with insufficient information will be deleted.

  • A criminal background check will be completed and an email sent to notify you of your acceptance to begin volunteering. For those who may not have an email, a District administrator will inform you of this information by telephone.
